Diplommatina seimundi Laidlaw, 1932
“Quite distinct from any species hitherto recorded from the Peninsula, it is the smallest of the Malayan species, slightly smaller than the sinistral D. laidlawi Sykes from Perak. I can find no trace of spiral marking even with a compound microscope. One or two dead specimens were found amongst debris of larger shells from the Batu Caves.” (Laidlaw, 1932)
Laidlaw (1932) original descriptions on Diplommatina seimundi – “Shell dextral, ovate-fusiform, imperforate, white or cream-coloured. Whorls 5½, convex, suture deeply impressed, the penultimate whorl broader than the last; the apex smooth, the last four whorls with fine radial costae, about 12 to 1 mm. Aperture circular, peristome expanded, double, with a small deeply set columellar expansion.”
Laidlaw (1949) original descriptions on Diplommatina seimundi – “Ovate shell of about 6 whorls. Mouth circular. Ribs well-developed and close-set. All the specimens that I have seen are white in colour. Most Diplommatinas when alive have the shell of a yellow or orange colour, most marked at the apex. Some of my specimens look quite fresh, I do not know if they live in the dark part of the caves.”
Diplommatina seimundi – “Alt. 2mm. Diam. max. 1.3 mm.” (Laidlaw, 1932); Diplommatina seimundi – “Length 2.25 mm. Breadth max. 1.25 mm.” (Laidlaw, 1949)
Type locality – “Gua Tembus, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor” leg. E. Seimund/Oct. 1930 (Laidlaw, 1932)
Other localities – “Batu Caves, Selangor” (Laidlaw, 1949)
