Diplommatina superba brevior Laidlaw, 1949
“Differs from typical superba chiefly in its rather more stumpy shape and finer ribbing.” (Laidlaw, 1949)
“… The single cream-coloured animal from Sungai Sera was alive on discovery, and the fresh shell is bright orange… Topotypical D. tweedei measure about 3 x 1.8 mm. These two Perak specimens are both 2.2 x 1.3 mm, and therefore in proportion but much smaller. The only other Peninsular form in the same species-group, D. laidlawi is about 2 x 1 mm, therefore more slender.” (Davison, 1995)
Laidlaw (1949) original descriptions on Diplommatina superba brevior – “Shell elongate pyramidal, spire pointed, whorls about 7, penultimate the widest. Last two whorls angled, not quite so strongly as in the typical race. Ribbing fine and regular, oblique but not so wavy as in Godwin-Austen’s form. About 45 ribs on penultimate whorl. Mouth rounded oblique, peristome moderately expanded.
Diplommatina superba brevior – “Length 2.5 mm. Breadth max. 1.3 mm.” (Laidlaw, 1949)
