Pseudonenia johorensis (Tomlin, 1939)
Tomlin (1939) original descriptions on Oospira johorensis – “Shell dark chestnut-brown, dull, fusiformly tumid, whorls nine, increasing rapidly, the last two being narrower than the two which precede them; apex broad and blunt; protoconch shing, light brown, consisting of three whorls finely and closely striae; the subsequent whorls are smooth until the last two – on these the growth-lines tend to assume the form of fairly close striae especially at the base of either whorl; suture deeply impressed; mouth very nearly circular, reddish brown within; peristome solute, thickened and reflexed, the outer margin reddish, the inner dark brown; parietal lamella pinkish (in the fresh shell), slightly sloping towards the outer margin; subcolumellar lamella plainly visible, and reaching the inner margin of the peristome; parietal plicae five in number, parallel to the suture, the uppermost one very long, the next about one-quarter of the length of the first, the third and fourth about half the second, the fifth half as long again as the third and fourth.”
Loosjes (1953) descriptions on Pseudonenia johorensis – “Shell of medium height to large, fusiform, solid, dark chestnut-brown, dull, not transparent. Spire thick with a very broad, blunt apex and with convex lateral outlines. Whorls 7 ½ to 8, slightly convex, almost smooth, only the neck is distinctly striated. A thread in the colour of the shell may run below the rather deep suture. The 2 ½ nuclear whorls are broad and form the blunt apex. In a side view the neck slowly and regularly runs down towards the base of the aperture. Aperture almost circular, reddish-brown within; the sinulus is wide, not high. The upper peristomal margin is curved where it is touched by the superior lamella. The base of the peristome recedes slightly. The peristome is continuous, violet, broadly reflexed and slightly thickened, the upper margin is clear of the preceding whorl. From the sinulus the outer peristomal margin is regularly and distinctly curved downward, as is the parieto-columellar edge. Lamella superior violet, oblique and rather high, reaching the margin, always connected with lamella spiralis. Lamella inferior violet, not very low, thick, soon turning inward and upward into the shell. Outside it does not reach the margin. When looking obliquely from below into the aperture the base of the inferior lamella is not or hardly visible. Lamella subcolumellaris is clearly visible in a full front view of the aperture, it reaches the margin. The closing apparatus lies at the right side. The plica palatalis principalis runs from the left side to somewhat beyond the ventral side, it is almost ¾ whorl long. Below it are 5 to 6 rather long plicae, almost parallel to the suture, 4 particularly are very large. Lamella subcolumellaris is hardly visible through the shell. The inner ends of the lamellae and the clausilium could not be studied.”
Oospira johorensis – “Long. 29 mm., diam. max. 6.5 mm.” (Tomlin, 1939); Pseudonenia johorensis – “Length of the shells: 24.3 to 29.4 mm, diam. 5.9 to 6.8 mm: aperture: height 6.5 to 7.7 mm, width 5.0 to 6.4 mm.” (Loosjes, 1953)
