Cyclophorus rafflessi (Sowerby, xxxx)
“In 1931 the author received a specimen of Cyclophorus rafflesi rafflesi from Tjibadak, near Sukabumi, 700 m alt., which was infested by a land planarian, Bipalium penzigi J. Müller. The worms lived in the mantle cavity of the snail, obviously without doing much harm. Cyclophorus rafflesi rafflesi is now and then eaten by monkeys.” (Benthem-Jutting, 1948)
Benthem-Jutting (1948) descriptions on Cyclophorus rafflesi – “Shell large, low-trochiform, with small spire and very broad last whorl. Yellowish-brown or dark brown, with lighter zigzag markings radiating from the suture. Below the periphery there is a dark brown band. Sometimes it is continuous, but more frequently it is interrupted by lighter zigzag streaks. The umbilical region is white or cream-colour. Whorls 5-5 ½, the first one smooth or finely punctured, the following 2 ribbed with oblique thread-like ribs, the last 2-2 ½ spirally ribbed with 4-5 distinct lirae above the periphery and an equal number or more fainter ones below. Between these ribs of primary order there are several fine ones. All ribs are crossed by fine, oblique growth lines. Epidermis fibrous, not hairy. Umbilicus very wide and perspective. Aperture rounded, oblique. Peristome continuous, thickened and reflected. White, pink, salmon or yellow. Operculum horny, round, multispiral with a central nucleus.”
Cyclophorus rafflesi – “Dimensions: height 35-37 mm, diam. up to 55 mm, height of aperture about 28 mm.” (Benthem-Jutting, 1948)
