Cyclophorus speciosus (Philippi, 1847)
“Forma convenit cum C. tuba Sow., sed anfractus ultimus magis teres, minus compressus, ad umbilicum minime subangulatus est. Apertura dilatata ut in illo, sed subquadrangula, forma sua ad C. aquilam Sow. accedens, et peritrema longa crassius est. Praeterea a C. tuba testa longe majore, striata (striis undulatis), et alio modo colorata satis superque differt.” (Philippi, 1847)
Philippi (1847) original descriptions on Cyclostoma speciosum – “C. testa maxima, depresso-conica, confertissime transversim undulato-striata, ferruginea, albo nubeculata, in basi zonis frequentibus ferrugineis inaequalibus picta; zona latiore et obscuriore, superius albo marginata, suturam continuante; anfractibus sex, modice convexis, ultimo tereti, obsolete carinato; umbilico mediocri; aperture maxima, quadrato-orbiculari; peritremate late reflexo, satis crasso, continuo, luteo-albo.”
Gray (1852) descriptions on Cyclophorus speciosus – “Shell depressed-turbinate, solid, with rather undulated, crowded, impressed spiral lines, chestnut-coloured and marbled with whitish: spire broadly conoidal, rather blunt; whorls 6, moderately convex, the last one very large, girdled at the periphery with a very obsolete white keel, and with many blackish-brown bands beneath; umbilicus narrow; aperture oblique, large, nearly circular, somewhat pearly inside; peristome white, broadly expanded, continuous, shortly affixed to the penultimate whorl, columellar margin reflected. Operc ?”
Cyclostoma speciosum – “Alt. obliqua 23 mm; diam. absque labro 26 mm.” (Philippi, 1847); Cyclophorus speciosus – “Height 35, greatest breadth 61, least br. 45 mill.” (Gray, 1852)
